WHAT DO I NEED TO CONSIDER WHEN TRAINING?

What to consider at the start, during and end of the session.

Set the session parameters in the control software according to the recommendations of your contact person or the Cellgym Curve Guide.

  1. Session start (no need to rush here, as the training only begins once the pulse oximeter is attached to your finger).
  2. You train while sitting in a comfortable chair or lying down (whichever you feel most comfortable with).
  3. The mask is attached. If you are using clinical masks (dual-port masks) and a mask strap, this is the recommended procedure:
  • Hold the mask over the mouth and nose.
  • Place the strap behind your head or ask another person to assist you.
  • First, secure the two upper straps and then the two lower straps.
  • The mask should fit comfortably on the patient’s face, applying enough pressure to form a seal without exerting too much pressure on the face or nose, yet till allowing for proper airflow.

If you are using our sports masks, here is the recommended procedure:

  • Place the mask strap over your head and fasten the two closures.
  • Afterwards, pull on the loops of the strap until the mask is comfortable and snug.
  1. Attach the pulse oximeter to your index finger and ensure that the cable rests on top of your finger.
  2. Once the device detects your pulse, the session begins with a 30-second calibration phase.
  3. Now you can attach the air hose to the mask, as the airflow has started.
  4. For additional comfort, you can use a thin blanket.
How should I behave during my first training session?
The Session begins:
  • You are now in the first hypoxia phase (unless the session begins with a relaxation phase/ inverse mode).
  • You are now breathing air with an oxygen saturation of X %, but despite the reduced air density, you can breathe comfortably.
  • The X % corresponds to a relative altitude of X feet (see altitude map).

Check:

  • Make sure to breathe normally and preferably through the nose.

Relaxation break:

  1. After the first training phase, the model switches to the relaxation phase (normoxia or hyperoxia).
  2. Please note that the air in the hyperoxia phase may feel warmer and smell differently (sweetish).
  3. Also, note that the air in this phase is “denser”, making breathing seem more difficult. This is due to the higher oxygen content, which allows the body to replenish oxygen after the hypoxia phase.

Important:

  1. Do not let the first training cycle mislead you and wait for the second cycle before considering adjusting your settings if necessary.
  2. Typically, the first training cycle does not show a particularly smooth training curve as you are not breathing normally due to the unfamiliar situation.

End of session:

  1. Keep an eye on the training countdown and be ready to remove your mask and then the pulse oximeter immediately after the end of the training.
  2. Drink a glass of water if you have a dry mouth.
  3. Analyze your training curve and discuss it with your Cellgym contact if you have any questions.
